2. Time is a mutherfucker. As I sit down to record my thoughts, feelings and philosophy of life I’m immediately confronted with the issue of time.
“What about the person who doesn’t want to wait until he’s forty-eight years old to be happy? What about the woman who doesn’t want to wait, or can’t wait until she’s thirty eight to get pregnant? What about the person of color who can’t float through life, accumulating debt, and losing friends, and gaining weight without any real consequences?
To all of you, all you beautiful,
True voices, I say, I don’t know.
What I believe is that if you get up every morning and live. Occasionally trying your best. No, I can't, I can’t say it. All I feel ALLOWED to say is that if you’re a middle-class white male without any glaring disabilities: go and do likewise.
Women, people of color, people with diagnosed disabilities? I got nothing.
I do believe -- very strongly -- in prayer. I believe that if you pray, it can change your life.
Jesus said something to the effect of “pray believing that what you are praying about, you already have.” But I find that to be too tall an order at first, when my life is a steaming pile of red and light brown, chunky dog shit, I can’t BELIEVE. Faith? I do not think one need have much faith. Just try.
So back to the issue of time, if you haven’t the time, let go of time. Be willing to wait for as long as need be. When one is impatient for results, it is extra difficult to stay open for the answers.
